The University of Arizona received a Letter of Reasonable Assurance from the American Veterinary Medical Association, paving the way for the opening of state's first public College of Veterinary Medicine. The University of Arizona received a letter of reasonable assurance of accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Council on Education. Long Island University, near New York City, was granted a letter of reasonable assurance in October 2019 and provisional accreditation April 14. Veterinary science students become part of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences at the University Arizona, and can apply for $1 million in scholarships reserved specifically for CALS majors.
